Hydraulic and Pneumatic effects

Flying and levitation effects are the oldest mechanical effects in the entertainment industry, dating back to the Theater of antic Greece, when Gods descended on the stage and saved the day. This doesn’t mean these effects are not still very fashionable – Peter Pan, Superman and superheroes are just the handy examples. This type of gags are made with wire rigging, using specially designed invisible cables and harnesses.

When a set is too complicated to be built at its normal size, the use of miniatures seems to be the most profitable solution. Of course this depends on your script and needs, but there are scenes that can be easily done without having the whole 50m building done.

Shooting time is not the only one who can benefit – think about explosion and effects tests – it is always cheaper to make a demo of your work or discuss the required effect watching it live, but with minimized costs and risks.
